This immersion experience will allow students to explore the representative works of 20th- and 21st-century Argentine writers, painters and musicians, paying particular attention to the writings of Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar and Maria Marta Marciano, the paintings of Césareo Bernaldo de Quirós and Xul Solar, and the music of Argentine folk dance and tango.

You do not need to speak Spanish. With the influx of many British and other English-speaking corporations, Porteños are eager to practice their own English.

We will look at common themes in the arts and how these arts reveal the history of the people of Argentina and enrich the culture of its capital city.

Buenos Aires, one of the most sophisticated and cosmopolitan cities in the world, will serve as a daily resource for the understanding the Argentine culture by

  • allowing for the meeting of a currently publishing author who lives in the city
  • giving access to world-renowned museums of art
  • offering live examples of music and dance.
